The Anesthesiology, Reanimation and Pain Therapeutics Service of the Clinic-Malvarrosa Department was accredited as a Teaching Unit by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs to teach the specialty in 1987, with the incorporation of three residents/year, and in 1989, five residents/year, a figure that is currently maintained.
It was re-accredited after successfully completing an audit of the Ministry of Health in November 2006.
The mission, vision and values of the Training Area are the same as those of the Anesthesiology, Reanimation and Pain Therapy Service of the Clinical-Malvarrosa Department.
At present, we are immersed in the NEW TEACHING PLAN for the training of Resident Interns (MIR) of the specialty for the four-year period 2014-2017.
The new Plan, within the current MIR Training Regulations, includes improvements in theoretical training with a new programme that includes areas such as research training and teacher quality management.
At the same time, specific training sessions have been included in preparation for the European Diploma of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (DEA).
Above all, however, practical training has been provided through the restructuring of the rotations through the different areas of the Service and the organisation of a practical training programme based on workshops and simulation. The aim is to ensure that the skills recommended by the European training programme in our speciality are guaranteed.
It should be noted that the Anesthesiology, Reanimation and Pain Therapy Service of the Clinical-Malvarrosa Department is one of the few European centres accredited by the European Society of Anesthesiology for the European exchange programme of the different doctors in training in this speciality.
On the other hand, the post-graduate training of our residents in the field of Critical Care Medicine follows the guidelines set by the CoBaTrICE (Competency-Based Training in Intensive Care Medicine in Europe) of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).
